Food security means households had access at all times throughout the year to enough food for a healthy lifestyle for all members of the family. The site also shows the number of food insecure families living in the United States during that time. Food insecurity means at some times during the year, the household had a difficult time or was unable to provide enough food to meet the needs of all members of the family. This was due to low income or insufficient resources for food.
